DraftProof never reads or stores the text you write. It only records when you type and how large any pastes are — the actual words stay entirely private and never leave your device.
What we collect
DraftProof records the following metadata while you work on a Google Docs document:
Keystroke timestamps — the time each key was pressed. The key itself is never recorded.
Paste event time and character count — when a paste occurred and how many characters were pasted. The pasted text is never stored.
Backspace / Delete count — the number of correction keystrokes per session.
Tab-switch timestamps — when the document tab lost and regained focus.
Session start and end times — derived from the above events.
Document title — read from the page title for display in reports only.
What we do NOT collect
The content of anything you type or paste
Screenshots or screen recordings of any kind
Your Google account information
Your IP address or any network identifiers
Any data from pages other than Google Docs documents
How data is stored
All data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. No data is ever transmitted to any server, third party, or external service of any kind.
Data is scoped to the specific Google Docs document URL it was collected from. You can view, export, or permanently delete the data for any document at any time using the DraftProof popup.
Data sharing
DraftProof does not share any data with anyone. There are no analytics, no advertising networks, no crash-reporting services, and no backend servers of any kind. The extension operates entirely offline.
Permissions used
storage — to save keystroke timing data locally on your device.
tabs — to identify which Google Docs tab is currently active so the popup can display the correct document's data.
host_permissions (docs.google.com) — to inject the content script that listens for keyboard and paste events within Google Docs.
No permission is used beyond its stated purpose.
Children's privacy
DraftProof does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since no personal data is collected at all, there are no special provisions required for children.
